First Week Tasks
So we'll be introducing you to Music Video and analysing previous years' work. You will be reflecting on your AS work and devising an action plan to avoid problems in your music video production in September.
First you will be looking at the 2012 A2 Music Videos to see what went well, what could have been done better and what pitfalls you can avoid.
The playlist is here:
You will need to work in your group to rank the videos and provide a 'rationale' for your choice.
At the end you will produce your own reflection on how to make a good music video...
Remember to be sensible and act as academic critics of the work - this will be your work next year so treat the work as you would like yours to be treated.
Enjoy!

Welcome to the new 2012-13 Music Video Blog
Hi all - hope your exams went well and that you're all ready and willing to crack on with your studies of Media. We'll be working towards your A2 Advanced Production and things will be explained to you in more detail in class. You'll be issued with another detailed teaching pack and again you will be expected to set up and maintain a blog to record the progress of your coursework. You'll be working in groups to produce a music video and we're going to start now.
We hope you learnt a lot from your AS work, particularly, what to do and what NOT to do in terms of production, maintaining a blog, working in groups, filming and editing, evaluation etc so think about what happened in AS, at least to make sure you don't make the same mistakes.
There will be things to do over the holidays (all fun though!) and you should really start as you mean to go on. There's more to do this year and some of the same problems and issues you had last year will still be there this but this should be more fun because by and large you will be better able to deal with issues and problems and because the music video form is fun to make, breaking lots of narrative film 'rules' is expected and whilst it's more challenging, you'll get more from the process in the end because of it.
Whatever you have already done, this is a chance for a fresh start so learn from it, put it behind you and let's get started!
